Bio:

Dr Fikre Mengistu was  born and raised in Wisconsin as a first generation

Ethiopian American. He continued in the Midwest with his undergrad degree at

University of Minnesota earning a Bachelor of Science in both genetics and

biochemistry. He then moved to Washington DC to attend Howard University

Medical School.

It was there that he developed a passion for surgery. He went

on to attend the University of Nevada General Surgery Residency program in

Las Vegas. Upon graduating residency Dr Mengistu attained his board-certification

in General Surgery and joined Southern Nevada Surgery Specialists. 

Dr Mengistu has been honored with several Top Doctor awards, Best of

Las Vegas Awards, the Robotic Surgeon of Excellence certification, and

numerous hospital leadership positions. He is a father of 2 children, married

to a beautiful and wonderful pediatrician, and enjoys running, skiing,

videogames and gardening.
